Words From Our Community
Below are a few Sicilian Life testimonials shared by our community.

Carol and Croce are some of the kindest and most welcoming people I’ve had the blessing to meet. I started following their YouTube channel about seven months ago, and their warmth and generosity immediately stood out.
A few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of visiting them in their beautiful new home in Carini while on my journey to find a place for my husband and me to stay this October and November. Our goal is to experience the culture firsthand as we prepare for our eventual retirement in Sicily. While I’m already familiar with Palermo and the island—since my parents were born there—this will be my husband’s first time, making this transition all the more significant.
Knowing that we have Carol and Croce as friends gives us comfort and reassurance as we navigate this exciting new chapter. Their kindness and insight have already been invaluable, and we’re so grateful for the connection we’ve built. We’re looking forward to eventually living near them—and of course, borrowing a cup of sugar when needed!

I moved to Sicily in 2022 on the advice of my ex-husband, due to the low cost of living. I was fortunate enough to inherit enough money to purchase a home that needed renovations. I hold dual citizenship (American & Maltese) and was able to gain Italian residency easily.
Everyone in my village, (San Cataldo), asks why here, as it isn’t touristic at all. It has no beaches or historical significance. My answer is always threefold. • People are friendly and helpful. • Low cost of living, and • No crime, even though I have been told, that I live in a mafia village. The mafia today is concerned with politics and is harmless.
I would love to return to the States, or at least rent property elsewhere, since the renovations are proving to be too costly; but Sicily is a fantastic place to live and call home!
I stumbled upon The Sicilian Life Channel by Carol and Croce Amato while searching through YouTube and am blessed that I have done so.

I think you are very good at explaining to your fellow countrymen everything that is necessary to do, (and also what is better not to do…), when you decide to live in Sicily, even if not permanently. I discovered your channel by chance but I immediately felt a great sympathy for you, because you are spontaneous and sincere. Above all, I admire Carol who even changed continents for the love of Croce!

Hi Carol and Croce. It’s always a pleasure to watch your videos and to know how you are getting on with life in Sicily. Do you cook every day, Carol, except of course when you dine out? What do you cook? and do you bake cakes? Does Croce miss his job? I’m guessing not now, as I’m sure he will find lots to do to occupy himself. It is a shame about the rubbish. It would be such an achievement to get the situation sorted. It won’t be long for the nice, warm, consistent weather. It makes such a difference, and it has such an impact on your well-being. Sending love and blessings. Take care.
